Global esports organization Gen.G Esports announced Monday that it has opened applications for the second annual Gen.G Foundation scholarships. Gen.G announced its foundation in August of 2020 and pledged to invest $1M USD over 10 years to support women, people of color, and low-income students enrolled in a U.S.-based university or college who are interested in careers in esports, gaming, and other gaming-adjacent professions.
The application process opens today and ends on May 31, with winning applicants to be announced in September. The first group of Gen.G Foundation Scholarship recipients were awarded in December 2020.
Gen.G also announced that Heron Preston, “Kids of Immigrants” brand, PUMA, University of Kentucky, and Eastern Michigan University have joined as partners of the foundation for 2021.
Gen.G fields multiple teams in North America and Korea including Overwatch League team Seoul Dynasty, and rosters in League of Legends Championship Korea, League of Legends Championship Series, and many more.
