The legendary Swedish Dota 2 player is back where it all started.
Yesterday, we’ve covered the announcement from Alliance where the team decided to part ways with Adrian “Fata” Trinks and Neta “33” Shapira. This was very unexpected because the European team played very well during the DPC. However, it seems like they’re looking for a change to help them get the results they’re looking for.
As a result, just one day later, Alliance confirmed the newest addition to the squad — Gustav “s4” Magnusson. This was kind of expected because s4 was teamless for a couple of months. As you probably remember, he used to be a part of EG during last DPC. However, the NA team decided to make a drastic roster change and removed him and Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan from the team.
s4 and Alliance
The old school Dota 2 players probably remember the glorious days of TI 3. This is when Alliance completely changed the way teams look at Dota 2 after they’ve successfully won The International 3. What’s more, the Grand Final in this tournament was arguably the most interesting one yet, according to most fans.
S4 was a part of this final and actually played a very important role in it. Thanks to his Puck, he was able to prevent Danil “Dendi” Ishutin from teleporting back to the base, which allowed the rest of his steam to bring down the Ancient.
Now, seven years later, the legendary Swedish mid/offlaner is back with Alliance. According to the official announcement, “there’s no better time to welcome s4 back to Alliance”. Supposedly, this years’ TI is going to take place in Sweden, which will make it very special for Alliance. However, we’re saying supposedly because it’s still not sure whether or not it will happen. As you know, the world is not functioning properly in the last couple of weeks due to the COVID-19 situation.
Here is what s4 had to say about his return;
“Hey guys! Excited to play some Dota again since it’s been a while for me. Looking forward to make some new friends in the team and show everyone great games. Thank you to Alliance for giving me a shot at this. Sorry to everyone that has been waiting for so long, but also thank you to all that have been patiently waiting for my return.”
We’ll be able to see the new Alliance in just a few days from now. The European team will be competing in the ESL One LA Online, which starts on the fifth of April. Although this was going to be a Major, the coronavirus forced ESL to make it an online event.
Having said that, we still have to see who will be the fifth player for Alliance. Currently, the squad looks like this:
- Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov
- Linus “Limmp” Blomdin
- Gustav “s4” Magnusson
- Simon “Handsken” Haag
We’ll keep our eye on who that fifth spot will be going to. Be sure to follow us our social media accounts for all the latest Dota 2 news.
