Frost Giant Studios has announced an $5M USD investment raise for the continued development of an independent Real Time Strategy game. The investment saw participation from Korean venture capital fund Kona Venture Partners as well as Global Founders Capital, RXBAR co-founder Jared Smith, and game backend entrepreneur Eden Chen. The raise follows the company’s initial $4.7M seed round from last October.
Part of the new investment will be used to scale Frost Giant’s development team. To that end, the company announced the hire of former StarCraft II lead engineer James Anhalt as its chief architect.
Frost Giant was founded last year by Blizzard Entertainment veterans Tim Morten and Tim Campbell. The genre has been largely dormant in the esports space, with no new games rising to challenge StarCraft II as the industry leader.
