Ubisoft announced that the 2021 Brazilian Rainbow Six Siege Championship (BR6 2021) will be starting the first of its three splits on Saturday, March 20. The tournament, which is one of the main esports competitions in Brazil and counts even with top international organizations like Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Liquid, and FaZe Clan, will deliver a $500K BRL (roughly $90.1 USD) prize pool, one of the largest in the local scene.
The sponsors for the season will be Acer, promoting its gaming PC brand Predator, Logitech, and the Brazilian investment broker Clear Corretora.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first split of the competition is set to be contested remotely. For future splits, matches may take place in São Paulo, in the Max Arena, a traditional local esports events venue. Finals are expected for November and December, by the end of the third split.
Ubisoft also revealed that the Rainbow Six Invitational, which was suspended in February because of COVID-19, is rescheduled for May.
Teams competing in BR6 2021 will qualify for the Elite Six Cups, which will happen at the end of each of the three splits and will feature the best teams from the Brazilian, the Mexican (MXR6), and the South-American (SUR6) leagues. A local competition named “Brazil Cup” will also happen between splits and will feature teams that do not qualify for Elite Six.
The BR6, as well as MXR6, SUR6, and the Rainbow Six Siege competitions in Europe, the Pacific, Asia, and North America, will be streamed through their official Twitch channels. Ubisoft also released a secondary channel to stream international leagues in Portuguese for the Brazilian audience.
