Apple details new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro

Apple revealed its 2019 line-up of iPhones during a live event today, introducing the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. All three models will be available on Sept. 20.

The iPhone 11 is a rebranding of the iPhone XR line. Priced at $699, the iPhone 11 features a dual-camera system with a wider-angle lens than last year’s model. Apple claims that the iPhone 11 will offer an hour of additional battery life on a single charge, compared to the iPhone XR.

Apple also introduced its high-end smart phone offering with the iPhone 11 Pro ($999) and iPhone 11 Pro Max ($1099). The stand-out feature on these models is an improved camera system that uses three 12 megapixel lenses for wide, ultra wide and telephoto photos. The lenses will also take 4K video, with dynamic switching between them.

In addition to the enhanced camera, the iPhone 11 Pro models will include updated an updated GPU and CPU (the A13 Bionic chip), which should come in handy given Apple’s increased emphasis on gaming via Apple Arcade.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max begin on Friday, Sept. 13 at 8am E.T., with the release planned for Sept. 20.
