Breath Of The Wild Prequel Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Announced For Nintendo Switch

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is an upcoming game in The Legend of Zelda series that was recently announced for Nintendo Switch. It’s due to launch on November 20, 2020, and focuses on what transpired 100 years before the events of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

You can watch the official Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity trailer in the video embedded below, which confirms that it will combine the iconic gameplay of the Hyrule Warriors series with the expansive environments of Breath of the Wild.

“See Hyrule 100 years before the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game and experience the events of the Great Calamity,” reads the official game description on the Nintendo website.

The description also notes that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will allow you to “join the struggle that brought Hyrule to its knees,” while offering you the opportunity to learn more about Zelda, the Four Champions, the King of Hyrule, and more.

According to the same description, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is the only way for you to wholly uncover the details of the Great Calamity that plunged the world of Breath of the Wild into perpetual darkness, while offering you the chance to witness how genuinely catastrophic Calamity Ganon’s impact on Hyrule actually was. On top of standard Boboklins, the trailer shows fully-functional Guardians roaming the plains of Hyrule, indicating that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will display the destruction that occurred prior to Breath of the Wild in full.

A press release received by TheGamer also confirmed that on top of Zelda and Link, the Four Champions will be playable for the first time ever in the Hyrule Warriors series.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is due to launch for Nintendo Switch on November 20, 2020, and will cost you $59.99 on the Nintendo eShop. If you pre-order it, you’ll unlock the Lucky Ladle as a bonus weapon for Link.
