Crypt Of The Necrodancer Is Getting A Standalone Sequel

Crypt of the Necrodancer and Cadence of Hyrule developer Brace Yourself Games has announced a brand new game set within the Cryptodancer universe. Unfortunately, we weren't given a potential release date as the title was only teased at the end of a DLC announcement trailer, but Brace Yourself does mention to stay tuned for more info, hinting that a more in-depth reveal could be just around the corner.

As for the first game, the trailer also showed off some of the new content for Crypt of the Necrodancer. The Synchrony DLC brings a bunch of new features to the game almost five years after it was last updated. Three new characters called Chaunter, Suzu, and Klarinetta have been added as well as several new modes. For the first time, Crypt of the Necrodancer now has online co-op and competitive modes, the latter of which supports up to eight players.

The DLC has also added full mod support, a bunch of new weapons, items, spells, and traps, as well as several new enemies to fight. The DLC is available right now in Early Access on Steam and will only set you back £4.67 until August 11. On the Steam page, Brace Yourself Games explains that the reason it is launching the Synchrony DLC in Early Access is so it can gather community feedback, something it did for previous DLCs and the game itself.

If you don't know what Crypt of the Necrodancer is, it's essentially a roguelike rhythm game that has players move, swing their weapons, and defeat enemies to the beat of some music. You can get a general idea of what that looks like by watching the DLC announcement trailer above. It's currently available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and even iOS and Android, but the newly announced DLC is only available on Steam at the moment. You can also play the game on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S thanks to backward compatibility.
