Cryptic Destiny 2 Clips Are A Mini-ARG That Leads To A Free Emblem

Destiny 2 streamers and content creators received cryptic clips today as part of a Destiny 2 ARG called Hack the Planet which led to a free emblem.

Bungie released a trailer today for the next season of Destiny 2, Season of the Splicer. Players will be teaming up with Mithrax, a Fallen Captain not scene since Season of the Drifter. The trailer reveals that Mithrax is a splicer, a secret member of a Fallen collective that augments their bodies with cybernetics.

When Season of the Splicer starts, the Last City will be plunged into never-ending darkness thanks to a Vex simulation. As Ikora explains in the trailer, Mithrax has the ability to “commune with the machines.” In other words, Mithrax has somehow acquired the ability to wield Vex technology, making him a powerful ally in the war against the Vex Hivemind.

There is a moment in the trailer (timestamped here) where Mithrax produces a small Vex object and throws it at the ground, creating a large hole that looks like a wormhole. The camera then flies down the hole, revealing something bright and organic looking at the bottom. There is also a choppy machine-like sound that can be heard.

Several Destiny 2 content creators, including Byf, Gigz, Fallout, Broman, and Hoplite received crypt two-second clips featuring images of Vex constructs and portal. Hidden in each clip was a short number sequence. In the clip above, you can see the numbers 110 1 1.

Once all the clips were put together, it was revealed that the numbers represented individual characters. By collecting all of the clips, the community was able to discover that they fit into a 3×3 grid that could be read from left to right and top to bottom, revealing a total of nine characters that form a code for an emblem.

After many long and complex ARGs, this may be Bungie’s shortest and easiest puzzle yet. The ARG was solved in less than an hour, revealing a code that can be used by the whole community. If you’d like to skip the puzzle and just get the code, you can use 7D4-PKR-MD7 to unlock the emblem in Destiny 2.
