Demon’s Souls Mod Introduces Free-Roam Camera

A big day for Demon’s Souls fans. A new mod has arrived that finally enables a free-roaming camera in the PS3 version of Demon’s Souls, allowing users to view the game that would eventually lead to Elden Ring in a totally new way.

The mod comes courtesy of horkrux, who patched the PS3 version of Demon's Souls to "re-enable the developer debugging camera." Normally used by the game's creators to quickly ensure environments and objects look as they should from all angles, now players will be able to use this debugging camera to do whatever they want, from viewing their character from a different angle to recording entire scenes in-game.

What’s most interesting here is that Demon’s Souls was the last of FromSoft’s Souls series to still not have a freecam mod. Dark Souls 2 and 3 have had a freecam for years now, and Elden Ring gained several camera mods soon after release, ranging from a photo mode to this mod that turns the game into a quaint isometric RPG.

So far the mod hasn’t appeared on NexusMods for the PC version of Demon’s Souls or its recent remake, but according to the replies in the above Twitter announcement, content creators are absolutely salivating at the prospect of a freecam mod in Demon's Souls.

In other news, a FromSoft fan recently acted on their dream of playing as the boss of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in Elden Ring by creating the "Isshin The Sword Saint – Full Moveset" mod. So long as the play equips the Nagakiba katana, the Pike, and the Heavy Crossbow in the right slots, this mod turns any Elden Ring character into Isshin, the final boss of Sekiro that's widely regarded as perhaps the toughest boss FromSoft has ever created.
