BlizzCon 2019 kicks off very soon, and players around the world are getting excited to see what Blizzard is going to announce at the show.
The company hasn’t revealed specifically what it’s going to show at the event (rumours about that they’re going to announce Overwatch 2 !), but that radio silence hasn’t stopped internet sleuths uncovering more information about the game.
The most notable leak so far comes from infamous Blizzard leaker@metro_OW, who took to Twitter to hint at two huge announcements due to appear at the annual Blizzard show just a few weeks ago.
"For anyone who cares, Diablo 4 and Diablo 2 Remastered will also be announced" the leaker noted. We can’t speak to the veracity of these claims, but metro_OW has a decent track record when it comes to leaks.
2019 BlizzCon will kick off at 4.30pm on Friday, 1 November and ends at 5am on Sunday, 3 November (UK time) – any new announcements are likely to come at the beginning, during the opening ceremony.
We’ll be reporting live from the show floor and will bring you all the information as it happens – but in the meantime, here’s everything we know about Diablo 4.
Diablo 4 – Rumours
Rumours have been circulating for years that Diablo 4 is in the works, with the initial information about the project uncovered by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier.
"In conversations since [BlizzCon 2018], two sources told me that regardless of the company’s statement, there had been plans throughout 2018 to announce the game [Diablo 4] this year," notedKotaku.
The article also mentions that there’s due to be a lot of new announcements at the show – partly to make up for the negative fan backlash against the unpopular announcment of Diablo Unchained last year.
"[…] Blizzard is planning on a lot of big announcements for this year's BlizzCon (November 1) in part to make up for the PR blowup of last year. This new debacle will no doubt overshadow that."
Diablo 4 – Leaks
There has been a Diablo 4 art book that keeps popping up in various places, giving us little snippets of what to expect of the game once it’s revealed.
Initially leaked in some pre-BlizzCon marketing, the book leaked again and was picked up by Twitter World of Warcraft UI account,WeakAuras.
The page leaked in the tweet focuses on Lilith, the Succubus Queen who featured in Diablo 2’s Pandemonium Event (probably a coincidence, but thatDiablo 2 Remaster rumouris well-placed to run alongside that, right?)
Part of the page is highlighted to show a quote that notes Lilith’s appearance in Diablo 4 will be a complete reimagining of the character, with a different appearance planned to differentiate her from her Diablo 2 form.
Expect to hear more about the character – and the game – sooner rather than later.
