Forspoken isn’t even out yet, but its demo is already getting quality-of-life improvements. In a video message posted earlier today, creative producer Raio Mitsuno confirmed several new features are coming to Forspoken’s demo later today.
"We have been listening to your reactions and feedback on the demo," said Mitsuno, "and we wanted to do whatever we could during this time to make the demo as enjoyable an experience as possible." To that end, the Forspoken Demo–which has been available on the PS5 since December–will be able to remap control inputs after tonight’s update. Other QOL enhancements include text size adjustments, locked-on enemies will remain locked-on longer after they move off-screen, and technical fixes.
In addition to the bug fixes and features, Forspoken’s PC requirements were also released, and boy are they something. At a bare minimum, players will need a GTX 1060 and 16 GB of RAM just to play the game at 720 p at 30 frames per second. To play the game at 1440p at 30 fps will require an RTX 3070 and 24 GB of RAM. This makes Forspoken perhaps the most tasking PC game in existence outside of Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Players haven't been able to try Forspoken on PC yet as the demo is only available on the PS5. The demo doesn't have any spoilers, however, as it just allows players to traverse its open world and engage in combat. Some players have gotten so into the Demo that they've spent dozens of hours grinding up to the apparent level cap of 99–a bizarre accomplishment given that progress in the demo won't carry over to the released game.
Forspoken has players take on the role of Frey Holland, a young Black woman who's magically transported from New York to the world of Athia. There, she learns to use magic to combat Athia's many perils and fight against its tyrannical rulers who want to harness Frey's power to their own ends.
Forspoken arrives on PC and PS5 on January 24.
