Fortnite fans are excited for the imminent release of update 19.10, which has been around a month in the making.

As announced by Epic Games on Twitter, Fortnite update 19.10 has a January 18 release date on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Android and Nintendo Switch.

The update – which is expected to be a big one – will be available to download at 9am GMT UK time.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a numbered update without a period of server downtime on all platforms.

The Fortnite servers will begin to be taken offline at around 8.30am GMT, unless you’re already in a game.

Anybody already in a game will be kicked out at 9am GMT, which is when downtime begins in earnest.

The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter: “Where we droppin? The v19.10 update is scheduled for release on January 18th. Downtime will begin at 04:00 AM ET, with matchmaking being disabled 30 minutes before.”

While there’s no official schedule for the server downtime, the game is expected to come back online at around 11am GMT UK time.

Express Online will keep this article updated with all the latest developments regarding the servers and when downtime will end.

Due to the size of the update, server downtime is expected to last a little longer than usual.

That’s because the update will make huge changes to the Fortnite Battle Royale experience.

This includes the return of fan-favourite point of interest Tilted Towers, which is likely to be a hot spot for drops.

According to reports, Tilted Towers will be joined by the release of a new location called Cover Canyon.

That’s on top of new edit styles for The Foundation, as well as the return of Grenade Launchers and lots more.
