As was almost inevitable, a fan has tried to recreate the Halo Infinite demo in PS4 game creation tool Dreams and… it looks great.

Whatever else you say about it, Halo Infinite has been a super-powered meme machine ever since the Xbox Games Showcase last week.

Craig the Brute has been the most popular topic so far but the one that implied the game’s graphics were so bad that the whole thing had been made in Dreams was especially savage.

Except that’s not really fair on either Halo Infinite or Dreams, as now that a fan has tried to recreate the footage in Dreams it actually looks really good.

If you’re not familiar with it, Dreams is a video game construction tool created by LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule and was released on PlayStation 4 earlier this year.

In theory it allows you to create any kind of game or animation you can imagine, and it’s already done a very creditable job of mimicking the PlayStation 5 Unreal Engine 5 demo.

This interpretation of Halo Infinite isn’t playable yet, but creator Disarmed has described their plans on Reddit and how, although there’s no action in the game yet, there is a gun animation and Master Chief moves authentically slowly.

You’d have to say the trees and landscapes are pretty gorgeous too, to the point where some people are going to claim it looks better than the real thing, even though it’s on a much smaller scale (and isn’t a game yet).

Disarmed has claimed that they’re not making the demo to poke fun at Halo Infinite and has said they’re looking forward to Microsoft’s game and implied they’ll be getting an Xbox Series X.

A lot of Dreams games never get finished though, as their creators hit a wall or lose interest, so we’ll have to wait and see how far this one gets.

If nothing else it proves just how versatile Dreams is, and we hope that soon we’ll get confirmation that it will also be released on PlayStation 5 and PC, as has previously been hinted at. It already recently got a VR update, so Media Molecule are definitely still working on it.
