Horizon Forbidden West's long-rumored DLC expansion Burning Shores has finally been announced, taking Aloy on yet another robot dino-slaying quest on April 19, 2023.
The quick trailer showed Aloy flying through the sky, before coming across the Hollywood sign, confirming that the DLC is set in LA. We then see the Hollywood sign come to life to attack Aloy, implying that it's some kind of boss to face within the expansion.
The official YouTube trailer for the Burning Shores expansion includes a little bit more context. It reads, "Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores sees Aloy pursue a sinister threat in the untamed wilds of Los Angeles, now a treacherous volcanic archipelago".
It was pretty much expected that Horizon Forbidden West would be getting a DLC expansion at some point, as Sylens actor Lance Reddick teased as much in a now-deleted tweet of himself waering mo-cap. Reddick isn't inolved in any other titles that we know of, so it pretty much pointed to new Forbidden West content in the near future.
We also got a second, much more concrete hint from reliable industry insider The Snitch. With a 100 percent accurate track record, they posted a cryptic tweet a few days ago of a Focus on top of a map pointing towards San Francisco, the location in which most of Forbidden West takes place. This was then backed up by another report, which claimed the DLC would be called Burning Shores. With today's announcement, it looks like The Snitch's record remains firmly intact.
