Little Nightmares Is Free On Steam Until May 30

The sidescroller that scares, Little Nightmares, is currently available on Steam free of charge, and it’s not a trial or a free weekend. It’s free for keeps right here.

With this, you’ll be saving $30 but on Sunday at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET, the deal is off the table, so be sure to grab it while you can. Otherwise, who knows? Maybe one of the fat cats lurking in the derelict and dank creaky corridors will get to it first.

The premise is fairly simple, but the atmosphere is rich with nuance. You step into the bright yellow raincoat of Six, a young child who is being held up in a prison where every room is some kind of elaborate trap or puzzle designed specifically to hinder progress. All the while, an assortment of psychological thrills grasp at your heels in its black mirror reflection of reality.

Now is also a perfect time to get into the series given that a sequel just released in only February of this year. TheGamer scored that 4.5 stars, stating, “Little Nightmares will haunt your dreams, but you won’t be able to look away.”

Its Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe’s fastest-selling game ever, with lots of love from critics and players alike, scoring an 82 and 8.5 on Metacritic respectively. However, no sequel is currently planned, with the team moving onto a new IP altogether, so getting into the two now means you’ll be completing a self-contained and finished story.

Currently, Little Nightmares 2 is $30, so if you like the first one, it’ll be right there waiting for you. Otherwise, you can delve into what kickstarted it all right now from Tarsier Studios, the same folks that did LittleBigPlanet for the PS Vita, at 100% off.
