It's been announced that during the latest Nintendo Direct that Omega Strikers, the 3v3 competitive multiplayer football game developed by several former leads from Riot Games, will launch on April 27 later this year for both Nintendo Switch and PC, as well as Android and Apple devices via Google Play and the Apple Store. Better yet, it's also going to be free-to-play, meaning you can dive right into a few matches once the game launches later this year.
If this is the first you're hearing of the game, Omega Strikers has you essentially playing much faster and frantic games of football (or soccer if you're a heathen) in teams of three. You can choose from a wide range of 15 different characters, each with different pros and cons, as you knock out your opponents in an attempt to score goals. The first team to five goals in a match will win, although you need to be at least two goals ahead to secure the bag.
It's a neat little idea, and one that you can check out for free once it does launch, with crossplay also enabled if you and your friends are playing on different platforms. With it being a free-to-play game, there will be a Battle Pass upon launch that you can use to unlock different cosmetics, while developer Odyssey Interactive has promised that Omega Strikers will be supporting with more maps, modes, and characters in the future.
As mentioned at the beginning, Omega Strikers was shown off during the latest Nintendo Direct, in which we saw all the title Nintendo plans to release in the first half of 2023, plus a few extra surprises here and there. For example, it was announced that a new Samba de Amigo game is currently in development and will launch In the Summer, while we also got a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which looks just as good as we all hoped it would.
