PlayStation London’s Fantasy Live-Service Game Is Co-Op, Set In London

PlayStation London revealed it was working on a fantasy live-service game back in May, and now we have our first look thanks to some new concept art. It's, as said earlier, fantasy, but it's also mixing in modern and even futuristic concepts. In the art, we can see a woman hacking a phone box with her laptop while punks fight dragons and goblins with magic.

"It's our most ambitious game to date," co-studio head Tara Saunders said (thanks, GamesIndustry.biz). "We're going to take all of that innovation DNA and apply that into this online co-op combat game. [In our concept art], you're seeing a take on a modern fantasy London. Our overarching theme is about bringing fantastical and magical elements and intersecting that with familiar worlds, and you don't get much more familiar to us than London."

Co-studio head Stuart Whyte added that the team spoke to Guerilla Games about its own jump from Killzone to Horizon: Zero Dawn, describing PlayStation London's leap from VR Worlds, Blood & Truth, SingStar Ultimate Party, and Gangs of London to this new project as "the exact [same] process".

It's being developed with Sony's in-house Soho engine that Whyte says "was built from the ground-up for this generation of hardware and the needs of the game that [PlayStation London is] making. It's designed to take full advantage of the PS5. But it's fair to say that some of the toolset… dates back to the VR Worlds and Blood & Truth tech that [the team] had on PS4."

PlayStation has promised ten live service games by 2026, and this is just one of those ten. We don't know when it'll release or when we'll get to see any in-game footage, but now we have a clearer look at what PlayStation London is up to.
