Today, Verizon announced that it would partner with Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, for a Pokémon Go Special Weekend event that will be available to all US customers on November 7.
Starting on October 20, Verizon wireless customers can enter the Verizon UP portal to receive a code that can be entered at nianticlabs.com to get a ticket for the event, which will run from 11 AM to 2 PM. The special weekend event will allow players a chance to catch a variety of rare Pokémon and earn special item rewards.
Verizon customers will also have access to an exclusive Pokemon hoodie and mask set for their avatar, as well as digital billboards where they can unlock sponsored gifts and in-game content. Those who complete the event Timed Research can earn XP, Stardust, three Incense, a Star Piece, and 100 Charizard Mega Energy, as well as encounter various rare Pokemon.
The Incense will attract the following Pokemon during the event: Bulbasaur, Charizard, Squirtle, Pikachu, Unown V, Unown Z, Sableye, Patrat, Minccino, and Ferroseed, and possibly a Shiny Ferroseed. Incense that is activated during the event will last for one hour of playing time. Verizon has noted that Shiny Unown will not appear during this event.
Prior to the event, Verizon customers are encouraged to play on the 5G network, which has been built for gamers and features access to rare content. As the official 5G network of League of Legends and Twitch Rivals, Verizon is leading the way in developing gaming technology and fostering competition in the community. The provider is also partnering with Dignitas to launch the first 5G esports training facility in the United States.
