Argos has begun to get more stock of the PS5 in for before Christmas, with online orders expected to start either this week or next.
As everyone’s advent calendar will clearly attest, Christmas is getting closer and the number of chances to get a PlayStation 5 before the big day are beginning to dwindle.
It’s still likely that all the big retailers will get at least one more restock while there’s still time to deliver everything, and one of the first this month looks like being Argos.
Stock checker PS5 Stock UK claims that Argos is already restocking both the regular and Digital Edition of the console at local stores, and these will be put up for sale either Friday, December 10 or somewhere between Monday, December 14 and Friday, December 17 next week.
At the moment, there’s no clue as to which of these dates is the most likely but local Argos stores can operate fairly independently, so it may be that the consoles will be available at different times in different areas.
When they go live online though it’s likely to be between 8am and 11am, as Argos has now largely abandoned the practice of putting them on sale in the early hours – which favoured scalpers more than normal customers.
The only options other than normal retailers like Argos are eBay and Sony’s own PlayStation Direct service. The latter makes things a lot fairer but it’s completely random as to whether you get picked to be given the chance to buy a PlayStation 5, so it’s not something you can rely on.
Currently eBay prices add a premium of around £200 to the basic price, which is a lot but less than this time last year. Whether you want a PlayStation 5 that bad though, is something only you can say.
