A leaked image from a French retailer appears to have confirmed Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will be the first game to get its own PS5 bundle.
Five years after the series was rebooted on PS4, the sequel to that version of Ratchet and Clank is almost here. Rift Apart will be released exclusively on PS5 this Friday and will bring a horde of new stuff to the franchise, as well as bringing back a lot of cool things from its past. It also seems the game will be the first to get its very own PS5 bundle.
The information comes courtesy of Twitter account StationOfPlay which claims to have leaked an image from a French retailer. The image, which you can check out below, shows a boxed PS5 complete with what we assume is a physical copy of Rift Apart. We assume that because that was the norm for PS4 bundles, and the PS5 in the image has a disc drive.
The leaked image also has a price. €569.99 which adds up since the disc drive edition of the PS5 retails at €499 in France. If the image is legitimate, that does mean Sony will not be offering a discount on Rift Apart for those who buy the bundle. While that might seem unfair, it makes sense from a business point of view. Demand for PS5s is still so high that these potential bundles will sell out very quickly.
Not to mention the expected popularity of Rift Apart. The Ratchet and Clank sequel is one of the most anticipated games of 2021 and sales will likely be superb. Even though it will only be available on PS5, PlayStation had sold 7.8 million consoles by the end of March 2021, so there’s definitely a big enough market out there for Rift Aapart’s launch despite shortages.
Ratchet and Clank will solidify their deserved spot as PlayStation’s leading mascots this week, while also adding Rivet to their ranks. Some of PlayStation’s other famous faces got in on the hype this week too. One of the mashups used to build to Rift Apart’s release included Sly Cooper, giving fans of the dormant franchise fresh hope that a new game is incoming.
