The Sims 4 Werewolves introduces an exciting new life state that is jammed with abilities and features for your Sims to explore. From being put through your paces in a werewolf Pack to uncovering the mysteries of Moonwood Mill, the game pack offers tons to keep you intrigued long after you succumb to the Cursed Bite.

One of the more subtle additions to regular game mechanics is the Fated Mate. Each werewolf has only one true mate – and destiny is hard to defy. Get started finding your Fated Mate with this handy guide!

What Is A Fated Mate

Simply put, your Fated Mate is your one true werewolf love. Your Mate is chosen by destiny itself – in other words, it's chosen randomly – and you will only ever be assigned one Fated Mate in your werewolf Sim's entire lifespan.

More information on this adorable addition to the romance mechanics of The Sims can be found if you have the Scavenger ability unlocked in your werewolf skill tree. With Scavenger equipped, your Sim will be able to dig up The Diary of Greggorius Lunvik anywhere in Moonwood Mill.

A quick flick through the tome will reveal valuable lore and secrets pertaining to the town's fur-clad denizens, including details on how the now-jaded and exiled author of the diary once had his own Fated Mate, Avelina.

How To Find Your Fated Mate In The Sims 4 Werewolves

  • First, become a werewolf. Only werewolves can be assigned a Fated Mate, so be sure that your Sim has endured at least one full moon rampage before you attempt to get flirty with the neighbours.
  • Flirt with everyone! Don't be shy – in order to find your Mate, you'll need to flirt with any and all werewolf Sims in town. You never know what destiny has in store; young adult Sims fall for Elders all the time, so expect the unexpected and only flirt with Sims which you wouldn't mind having as a Fated Mate.
  • Watch out for a purple notification box! Flirting successfully with your Fated Mate will trigger a purple event box to appear in the upper-right hand corner of your screen. This notification will confirm the name of your Mate next to their icon, as seen in your Friends list. When you click on this Sim's icon in your Friends list and check your relationship with them, there should be a Fated Mates icon of two conjoined hearts right there at the top.
  • Build that romantic relationship. You and your Fated Mate will find that falling in love is only too easy, as romantic advances become far more successful and dates are almost impossible to mess up. Congrats! Fate (or RNG) has spoken!

Can You Cheat Destiny?

If your werewolf Sim is happily shacked up with a non-werewolf already, you don't need to worry. As long as your wolf Sim does not go flirting with every member of their Pack, they will unlikely be swayed away from their partner's side by the tempting hand of fate.

But destiny isn't all-powerful in The Sims 4. After all, you're meant to be the godlike figure here, right? Even if your Sim has a Fated Mate assigned to them, you can still pursue romantic relationships with other Sims.

There are many reasons you might not want to be with your Fated Mate. Maybe they happen to be your most hated rival Pack member, or perhaps – sniff – your Fated Mate has unfortunately passed away. Whatever it is that is making you want to rebel against destiny, you will be able to romance other Sims regardless.

However, the tradeoff is that you will receive a Tense moodlet for a number of hours after flirting with somebody else. Denying fate is not an easy thing to do, but if you're willing to put up with the erratic mood swings involved, it might be worth a shot.
