Ubisoft has confirmed that there is a time limit on claiming a free copy of Watch Dogs 2 from Uplay. For now, gamers can head over to the Ubisoft site and register their interest in downloading Watch Dogs 2 for free. However, there is now less than 24-hours to complete the process, after which the deal will disappear. Ubisoft decided to make Watch Dogs 2 a free download for a limited time to help promote its Ubisoft Forward live stream event.
The only catch was you needed to log in to Uplay and watch it there, something that proved difficult on the day. The good news is that Ubisoft decided to waiver this requirement after it became apparent that watching the event proved impossible for many gamers.
So all you need to do is head over to the Watch Dogs 2 Promo Page and claim your free copy before the time runs out.
HOW LONG IS WATCH DOGS 2 FREE ON UPLAY?
According to a new message from Ubisoft, Watch Dogs 2 will be available to claim as a free download until July 15, 2020.
A message from the Ubisoft support team confirms that as long as you register on the correct page before the timer runs out, you will be given a free digital copy of the game.
The message from Ubisoft adds: “We have started rolling out the rewards from Ubisoft Forward to players who were unable claim them, and registered on our site.
“Rewards will be delivered by the end of the week. You have until 11:59pm PDT on July 15 to register.”
This should mean that you can still register your interest in a free copy of Watch Dogs 2 in the UK until 7:59am, on Thursday, July 16.
It should be noted that Watch Dogs 2 is a free download on Uplay only, meaning there is no way to claim it for your console library.
A full statement from Ubisoft on the subject adds: “You can register to receive your free PC copy of Watch Dogs 2 previously offered during the Ubisoft Forward event.
“Please visit before July 15 @ 11:59PM PDT / 2:59AM EDT to claim your free PC copy of Watch Dogs 2.
“After registering you will soon receive your free PC copy of Watch Dogs 2 in your Uplay PC library.
“Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, the registration is currently only available in English. Don’t worry though! We’re working to add additional languages as soon as possible.
“Be aware that the giveaway will be granted in waves; we are aiming for all of you to receive it this week.”
The Ubisoft Forward event included plenty of exciting news regarding the Watch Dogs franchise.
It was confirmed that Watch Dogs Legion – the next instalment in the franchise – has a release date set for October 29.
Watch Dogs: Legion is set in the future and allows gamers to lead a resistance against the criminals and corrupt private military corporation that have twisted its near-future version of London.
As an operative charged with rebuilding the hacktivist resistance movement DedSec, every character you see in the game’s open world is a potential playable recruit.
Watch Dogs Legions will let you build a resistance cell of up to 40 operatives, all of which can bring different diverse skillsets that range from street artists, football hooligans, and construction workers to politicians, grandparents, and spies.
