Microsoft has revealed that a massive new Xbox One update – one that radically upgrades the system's UX – will begin rolling out for Xbox One users soon.
As per Microsoft, the incoming update will give the console and its UX a "fresh look and streamlined experience". It's largely expected to help with the transition to the Xbox Series X when that launches later this year.
Microsoft reveals that users will be able download the update 'soon' and that the system refresh should be with most users by the end of August.
A new home screen/landing page will be included in the update, and is "designed to be cleaner and easier to read at-a-glance". Elsewhere, we're going to see a more sensible and readable notifications inbox that will merge alerts, game invites and messages into a single place so you don't have to keep tabbing between inboxes.
"Finally, we also aimed to improve the Guide experience for first-time gamers. Guide pages are now easier to read and understand, and shortcuts and button commands are more consistent" the company adds.
"We’ve added hints tailored for new customers, helping them understand the purpose of each page, and how to get started using it".
And there's more to come, too: Xbox Insiders will soon be able to try out a new feature that allows you stay signed in on multiple accounts and consoles, and there should be more updates on future hardware soon, too.
"We’re looking forward to your feedback as we continue to roll out the new, unified experience on Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles. All the updates to the Xbox ecosystem are built to keep the gamer at the center of the entire experience – stay tuned for more."
