You may be able to download God of War for free in December thanks to PS Plus

The PS Plus December line-up is December is arguably one of the biggest of the year.

The two free games that Sony offers to players here determine what players will get to experience over the festive period, and in many cases, they will be the core part of what new PS4 gamers will be playing as their introduction to the console.

The games are usually pretty decent – Sony is, of course, keen to demonstrate that it's got a decent roster of titles for its hardware, and wants to make a good impression on anyone that's jumped into the PS4 ecosystem for the first time.

That said, there's already a high bar of releases in 2019, including The Last of Us Remastered, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, Overcooked, WipEout Omega Collection and Batman: Arkham Knight.

However, if this week's lates PS Plus rumour is anything to go by, Sony might have saved the best to last.

Over on Reddit, a user called BubaManUK has noted that they are unable to purchase God of War on the PlayStation Store.

This is apparently because the standard edition is displaying as free for PS Plus subscribers – despite not actually being advertised or listed as that anywhere else. Could this be a precursor of the game coming to PS Plus for December?

Stranger things have happened.

Proof of the game, complete with its PS Plus branding, can be seen at the link above or the image below.

What is PlayStation Plus?

PlayStation Plus (commonly referred to as PS Plus or PS+) is Sony's PlayStation subscription service, primarily used to access online gaming on your PS4.

However, there are plenty more benefits on top, including two free PS4 games every month, exclusive PlayStation Store discounts, and 100GB of cloud storage for game saves.

How much does PlayStation Plus cost?

You can join PS Plus on a one, three or 12-month recurring payment plan, with costs ranging from as little as £6.99 for one month, up to £49.99 for the yearly option.

Choose a 12 month PS Plus membership and, by paying annually, you'll save 40% compared to paying monthly, and 37% compared to the three-month membership plan.

Can I try PlayStation Plus before I subscribe?

Yes! If you have never been a member of PlayStation Plus before, you can try it free for 14 days.

We have seen the PS Store accidentally list games coming up ahead of schedule before, so this could be legit.

It's worth noting, however, that there are a few irregularities on the image – first up, the listing displays the game as $99.99 for the Standard version ($30 too high) and lists the Digital Deluxe Edition for $29.99… about $40 too cheap!

Could this be a system-side glitch? Or a poorly thought-out photoshop hoax?

It's currently unclear and whilst we're hoping it's the real deal, we're inclined to think this could be more of a system glitch, similar to how certain EA games were appearing funny before the release of EA Access on PSN.

We'll keep you updated as more information comes to light.

PS Plus November 2019 – Don't Forget…

Like every month, you've got two free games you can download right now and they're a cracking pair you certainly don't want to overlook.

As usual, don't hang about, they're not available for too much longer and keep reading for more information about both titles. Starting with…

Nioh
