Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 will launch during Comic-Con

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order has a release date and, wouldn’t you know it, it’s smack in the middle of San Diego Comic-Con.

The action RPG, a surprise sequel in a series that hasn’t been seen for a decade, will be released July 19 on Nintendo Switch. Team Ninja is the developer and Nintendo the publisher, so Switch is the only platform. The first two games were developed by Activision studios Raven Software and Vicarious Visions, and launched on every platform known to humankind in their day.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 was revealed at The Game Awards 2018 back in December, delighting many. The crossover extravaganza will feature heroes from the Defenders, the X-Men, the Avengers, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, plus other freelancers. They’ll take on Thanos’ political action committee The Black Order, whose membership includes Spider-Man fan favorites Green Goblin and Sandman.

So far, 27 heroes have been confirmed for Ultimate Alliance 3’s roster. Ultimate Alliance 2 featured 95 characters across its many versions (some of them platform-exclusive).

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will be available in stores and on the Nintendo eShop. San Diego Comic-Con (formally 2019 Comic-Con International) is Thursday, July 18 to Sunday, July 21, 2019. The program schedule for that hasn’t been set, but for sure this game will be mentioned in someone’s panel. It’s the first Marvel video game Nintendo is publishing.
