Nintendo revealed its E3 2019 plans on Thursday, confirming that it will broadcast a new Nintendo Direct presentation on June 11 at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET to officially open this year’s gaming expo.
Nintendo Direct E3 2019, as Nintendo is calling it, will “focuses entirely on software, [and] will offer a look at games scheduled to launch in 2019,” according to the company. That description appears to reinforce a declaration that Nintendo won’t talk about a new model of its Switch console at E3.
The company’s announced 2019 lineup includes Super Mario Maker 2, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Astral Chain, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age — Definitive Edition, Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch, Daemon X Machina, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Pokémon Sword and Shield, and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
Nintendo will also hold its traditional Nintendo Treehouse: Live livestream at E3 2019. Details on that multi-day stream are forthcoming.
While Nintendo didn’t specify what games will be playable at E3 2019 — or call out specific titles as the main focus of its booth, as it has done in previous years with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — it’s trying something new this year. The company is offering fans reduced wait times for “select Nintendo games” if they reserve a Warp Pipe Pass. The pass is free, but requires a Nintendo Account in order to reserve one. Additional details on that program are also forthcoming.
Finally, Nintendo will host the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship 2019 3v3 and the Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019 tournaments on Saturday, June 8. More details on Nintendo’s competitive plans and its other E3 2019 plans are available at the company’s dedicated E3 website.
