Apex Legends’ first challenges offer a Bloodhound skin reward

Developer Respawn Entertainment has added the first ever challenges to Apex Legends. Unlike the challenges found in other battle royale games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or Fortnite, these won’t really change the way you play the game, or what weapons you use. Instead these are just the rewards you get for performing well in matches.

The challenges themselves are all part of a special limited time event entirely focused around Bloodhound. The event is called the “Legendary Hunt” and comes with a few skins.

There’s also a limited time event called Apex Elite Queue. It’s a little bit like a competitive matchmaking option for Apex Legends. If players place top five in any match they’ll earn the option to queue into their next match with other players that also placed top five in their matches. By only allowing these top performing players from previous matches in, the Elite Queue should make for higher quality, more competitive matches.

As for the challenges themselves, they also relate to reaching the top five in certain matches. There are four different challenges that each unlock a unique cosmetic item for players that complete them:

  • Legendary Hunt Badge (Tracks your Longest top 5 streak in the Elite Queue) — Finish in the top 5 in any match
  • Rare Wolfpack G7 Scout weapon skin — Finish in the top 5 in an Apex Elite match.
  • Epic Master of the Hunt Bloodhound Legend skin — Finish in the top 5 in any queue five times (consecutive or nonconsecutive).
  • Legendary Tamed beast Triple Take weapon skin — Win twice in any queue.

Along with these challenges there are two additional event-themed skins. Players who have the Battle Pass already will unlock the Legendary Honored Prey R-301 skin, and players who reach Battle Pass level 15 before the end of the Legendary Hunt event will gain the Wraith Night Terror legendary skin as well.

Apex Legends’ Legendary Hunt event started on June 4 and the challenges will be available until June 18. The Elite Queue game mode will be available until July 2.
