Sony’s overhauled PlayStation web store won’t sell PS3, Vita, or PSP games

The web and mobile versions of the PlayStation Store are getting a major visual overhaul, but not everything in the store will make the transition.

On Thursday, Sony emailed PlayStation customers to let them know that items like PlayStation 3 games, PlayStation Vita Games, PSP Games, Avatars, apps and Themes will no longer be available for purchase through the web or mobile versions of the PlayStation Store. The other feature that’s disappearing from both the web store and the mobile store is the Wishlist.

All of these items will be disappearing from the PlayStation web store as it launches from Oct. 21 to 26 and on mobile on Oct. 28. According to Sony’s PlayStation support website, these features could be leaving the mobile and web stores as soon as Oct. 19. Thankfully, these items won’t just disappear forever, you’ll still be able to purchase games and add-ons for these consoles by logging into the PlayStation Store directly from the console in question. Meanwhile, apps, Avatars, and Themes can still be purchased from the PlayStation 4 version of the store.

Sony also adds that any content you’ve previously purchased will still be available to download on your PS3, PSP, or PS Vita.
