It’s a day of big announcements thanks to Facebook Connect, with all the news centred around Oculus Quest 2. Which is perfect timing for a big videogame reveal, namely popular zombie survival title The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners coming to the Oculus Quest platform.
That’s right, soon you’ll be able to head into New Orleans and embark on a walker filled adventure on either Oculus Quest or Quest 2. Created by Skydance interactive in collaboration with Skybound Entertainment, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners offers an original story set in The Walking Dead universe where you play a drifter caught up in the city’s growing unrest.
It’s all about survival, heading to locations to scavenge for supplies or useful parts for crafting. While the walkers are your main threats on the streets and lurking around corners, the local human population can be just as dangerous (and suspicious) due to turf wars as supplies dwindle.
At your home base you can craft weaponry from blueprints found in the city, creating melee weapons such as knives or spiked baseball bats, to pistols and shotguns for more ranged attacks. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, blades offer silent kills but require stamina which can deplete, whilst guns are powerful yet make a lot of noise attracting walkers.
Aside from the main campaign, the Oculus Quest version will also include The Meatgrinder update. This features a horde mode called ‘The Trial’ so you can fight wave after wave of undead monsters.
As VRFocus mentioned in its original review of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners: “From the very beginning, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners offers a satisfying zombie experience that’s hard to match. Titles like Arizona Sunshine easily fill that need for straight-up arcade action, for when you want a living dead apocalypse with a bit more depth then The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is your new go-to videogame.”
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners will be released on 13th October 2020, the same day as Oculus Quest 2. You can pre-order the videogame today for $39.99 USD via the Oculus Store. For further updates on the title as well as Facebook Connect news, keep reading VRFocus.
