  • For decades, gamers have been arguing over what the best retro game of all time is.

From Mario and TETRIS to Sonic and Zelda, the list of what could make a top 10 is endless.

So the Daily Star enlisted the help of Google’s Artificial Intelligence-powered Bard software to find out exactly what the top 10 best retro games of all time actually are.

And there are some interesting choices in there . . .

Topping the list is TETRIS, the timeless puzzle game where you have to line up different shapes and aim to get the highest score possible.

It first came out in 1984, but still remains a firm favourite for mobile gamers everywhere.

Coming in second is the iconic Super Mario Bros from 1985.

The little Italian plumber bloke is a true gaming icon, transcending the screen to become a household name all over the world, with a sort-of live-action film proving a box office success earlier this year.

And third placed on the AI-powered list is the Legend of Zelda.

The 1986 release of the Nintendo classic was available first on the Family Computer Disk System, which was only available in Japan.

It made its way to Europe’s gaming shores soon after on the Nintendo Entertainment System – or NES to most of us.

The game has gone through many re-makes and had many sequels and prequels, and still stands the test of time as one of Nintendo’s most loved franchises.
