Fans of FromSoftware games like Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls and Elden Ring are counting down to the release of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. The long-awaited Armored Core sequel officially has an August 25 release date. Even better is that UK fans will be able to play the console versions as soon as the clock strikes midnight. The PC version, meanwhile, has an 11pm BST UK launch time.
To ensure you can jump in the moment the game goes live, customers are encouraged to pre-load the game early.
The Armored Core 6 file size differs from platform to platform, ranging from around 35GB to 65GB.
Reviews have been largely positive for Armored Core 6, which currently has a Metacritic score of 87% for PS5.
Gamingbolt awards the game a healthy 9/10, praising the unique mission structure and need for experimentation.
Metro also awards it 9/10, picking out the flexible controls, epic boss battles and endless approach to customisation.
One or two outlets have criticised the game’s stealth missions, while a lack of online multiplayer is seen as a missed opportunity.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is a mech-based action game featuring elements of FromSoftware’s signature game design.
This includes challenging combat, huge stages and epic boss battles against screen-filling enemies.
“Players will pilot their mech in fast-paced, omni-directional battles, taking advantage of massive stages and their mech’s mobility on land and in the air to ensure victory,” FromSoftware explains.
“Customise Armored Core parts to suit a large variety of playstyles. Selecting different parts not only changes the mech’s attacks, but also directly affects its movement and battle style, so each mission can be approached with a unique mech strategy.”
If you have time to pre-order the game before launch, you’ll receive the “MELANDER C3 G13 Special Customisation ‘TENDERFOOT'”, the MELANDER C3 parts set, an Emblem and an exclusive AC Decal.
