The good news is that Fortnite update 26.30 is about to be released by Epic Games. The bad news, however, is that the game will be taken offline for extended maintenance as part of the launch of the Halloween update. Coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC, update 26.30 will be available to download on the morning of October 10. It will be accompanied by a period of server downtime, which means you won’t be able to play Fortnite for at least a couple of hours. The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter, alongside details on when servers will be taken offline for maintenance.
“A little bit scary, and a lot of fun…” reads an Epic tweet. “v26.30 downtime begins at 3 AM ET, and matchmaking will be disabled shortly beforehand.”
For UK fans, this means that Fortnite will be taken offline in full at 8am BST, while matchmaking will be disabled at 7.30am.
Epic hasn’t revealed exactly when downtime will come to an end, but maintenance typically lasts for around a couple of hours.
This means Fortnite should be back online by 10am BST UK time at the latest.
However, in a follow-up tweet, Epic Games warned that the size of the download will be much larger than usual.

“Please note that the v26.30 update file size will be larger than usual on some platforms,” Epic explains.
The bigger update could result in a lengthier period of server downtime, so don’t be surprised if the game remains offline for longer.
According to Fortnite insider Hypex, update 26.30 will add the Vampire Stake Shotgun, as well as the Pumpkin Launcher, Witch Brooms and Candy. That’s on top of the Trick or Treat and Witchy Warrior Augments.
Players will also be able to battle a new Vampire boss, and take part in the Horde Rush limited-time game mode.
In addition to a host of new weapons, items and game modes, the update will fix a selection of bugs and gameplay glitches.
