Mortal Kombat 1 release time, launch date, pre-load and day-one update patch

Mortal Kombat 1 fans are counting down to the release of the Standard Edition on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch. The fighting game reboot has a September 19 release date on all platforms. Based on the countdown clock on Steam, the game has a 6pm BST UK launch time. The PS5 and Xbox versions are expected to launch at midnight local time. To ensure you don’t miss out on a second of the action, pre-order customers can pre-load the game ahead of schedule.

The game weighs in at over 100GB on PS5, which means it could take a long time to download depending on your internet speeds.

With this in mind, you would certainly be advised to download the game to ensure you can start playing at 6pm BST.

Warner Bros has also released a day-one patch, which you’ll need to download in order to play online.

The update makes a selection of bug fixes, improves matchmaking, rebalances various boss fights and lots more.

It’s also worth remembering that you’ll receive Shang Tsung as a playable character if you pre-order the game.

Mortal Kombat 1 serves as a reboot of sorts, taking place in a reborn universe created by Liu Kang.
